How to properly size plinth blocks

Width: Ideally, head blocks should be sized 1/4" to 1/2" wider than the adjoining casing.

Thickness: A minimum of 3/16" thicker than the adjoining casing and baseboard.

Height: A minimum of 1" or taller than the adjoining baseboard.

Note: Head Blocks and Plinths should be the same width.

Decorative Blocks were common to the Victorian era but also useful in numerous modern day applications. Rosettes add dimension and intrigue to the cased door and window openings.

Corner Head Blocks or Rosettes eliminate the need for complicated miter cuts and also allows for the use of shorter casing legs.
